To be continued is faded into tomorrow
Once upon a time is a foggy memory
Between then and here, I wish I knew where my life stood
The uncertainties that hit me, a fifty foot wave off the coast of Hawaii
Avalanche in the heights of the Alps, somewhere between the French and Swiss
I’m being pushed against, and into something I’m not sure I can explain
This morning I listened to the beat of your heart
Watched your eyes flutter and looked out the window at the sunrise
This morning I listened to the birds chirp
And as one flew by, my heart swelled until I couldn’t hold anymore. I looked away
A tear fell from my eye onto your cheek.
It slid down and kissed your lips as I realized that I had tripped and fell off a cliff
I tripped and fell and landed at your feet
Your face creeps into my thoughts and I can’t let it out
Your actions and words break me like never before
I wore your hat today
Because I wanted to smell you and feel like you were here
It was the only way I knew how to fill the void that’s been missing
My hands are empty, the spaces longing to be filled
I am left with the sands of the beach falling through
The touch of your hand
The sea blue ocean reflected every time I look into your eyes
I’m not even sure.
How did this happen
I didn’t see it coming
It’s gotten to the point where I’m running
Runnin’ like Forest Gump.
I don’t know which way.
I came to the fork in the road, and I think I chose the right one.
Actually I know I chose the right one.
I just need to figure out why everyone is walking
In the opposite direction of me.
